Ruth Elaine Sieg obituary, 10/22/06


Ruth Elaine Sieg, age 77, of Cokato, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 at her home.
She was born May 28, 1929 in Acoma Township, McLeod County to Gustav and Agnes (Wallmon) Mackedanz. She was baptized at Acoma Lutheran Church, and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield.
Ruth was a long-time member of St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.
Ruth was united in marriage to Harvey Sieg June 17, 1947, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield, by the Rev Karl Plocker. This union was blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Susan.
Ruth farmed with her husband until he was struck by illness. She also worked at Fabri-Tech in Cokato for more than 25 years, retiring from there to stay home and care for Harvey.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sharon, and her husband Chuck Lehtola; two grandsons, Donald and Brian and his wife, Melanie; two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Brandon; a brother, Harvey Mackedanz; brother-in-law Donald Calberg; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; daughter, Susan; her parents; two sisters, Leola Thomas and Gerry Calberg; sister-in-law Leona Mackedanz; niece Cindy Shoultz; nephew, Lane Thomas; great niece Christie Linder; and great nephew Tony Syndergaard.
Funeral service was Thursday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake with the Revs. Michael Nirva and Martin Schoenfeld officiating. Nancy Butterfass served as organist, and Leslie Weber provided special music. Interment was at the Howard Lake City Cemetery.
Visitation was Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, and continued Thursday for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church in Howard Lake.
Pallbearers were Craig Brose, Keith Brose, Arthur Jordan, Gene Linder, Dennis Mahlstedt, and Ron Weber. Honorary bearers were Melvin Bjur, Brian Lehtola, Donald Lehtola, Virgil Morris, Harvey Oestreich, and Randy Sieg.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
