Alex A. Socher obituary, 12/29/06


Alex A. Socher, age 85, of Watertown, died on his farm Monday, Dec. 29, 2006.
He was born Jan. 19, 1921 to German and Cecelia (Motzko) Socher in Franklin Township.
Alex is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gladys; daughters Darlene and Allen Henry, Joan and Jim Meuleners, and Jane and George Vanderlinde Jr.; eight grandchildren: Steve and Aimee Henry, Chris and Angie Henry, Scott and Deedee Henry, John Meuleners and friend Stacy Wolfe, Andrew and Tiffany Meuleners, Michael and Erin Meuleners, Brian Vanderlinde, and Katie Vanderlinde; and eight great-grandchildren: Emma Henry, Meagan and Jack Henry, Wyatt, Paige, and Mason Henry, Nicholas Meuleners, and Jade Meuleners.
He is further survived by siblings Leo and Merilla Socher, Leona Yantes, and Ilene Kolstad; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marvin and Delores Gallus.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Delano. The Rev. Daniel Bodin officiated at the Mass, with Pastor Joseph Gallatin concelebrating. Music was provided by Rose Ann Motzko, organist, and the St. Mary’s Church choir. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Alex’s grandchildren: Steve Henry, Chris Henry, Scott Henry, John Meuleners, Andrew Meuleners, Michael Meuleners, Brian Vanderlinde, and Katie Vanderlinde.
Arrangements were by the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
