Salome D. Stein obituary, 12/26/06


Salome D. Stein, age 87, of Watertown, died Tuesday Dec. 26, 2006 at the Elim Home in Watertown.
She was born Oct. 22, 1919 in St. Bonifacius, the daughter of Ignatius and Mary (Kurdis) Blackowiak.
Salome was united in marriage to Howard W. Stein Feb. 15, 1941 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius.
Salome took great pleasure in gardening, camping and cooking. Her first priority was being with her family.
Salome was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; grandsons Alan and Scott Schuler; parents Ignatius and Mary Blackowiak; and 15 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her loving family: children and spouses, Pat and Richard Schuler of Watertown, Rosemary Stein of Bloomington, Joan and Marvin Jerde of Watertown, Howard Jr. and Janice Stein of Delano, Judy and Steve Curfman of Norwood Young America, and Jim and Janet Stein of Buffalo; grandchildren, Steven and Melissa Schuler, Troy and Jestine Schuler, Jeff and Sue Jerde, John and Carrie Jerde, Lori and Jeff Graham, Mark and Stacy Lee Stein, Randy Stein, Todd Stein, Shawn Lange, Shea and Nancy Lange, Racquel Lange, Jesse Lange, Jenny and Brent Nygaard, and Justin Stein; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Salome is further survived by a brother, Edward Blackowiak of Mound; brother-in-law Willard Stein of Minneapolis; sister-in-law Katherine Vanderlinde of Waconia; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was Friday Dec. 29 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Frank Wampach officiating. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Salome’s grandchildren were her casket bearers.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
