Rosella E. Stern obituary, 10/1/06


Rosella E. Stern, age 79, of Norwood Young America, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006 at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia.
Rosella was born in Norwood Young America, Oct. 31, 1926, the daughter of Ferdinand and Emma (Redepenning) Schwartz. She was baptized Nov. 21, 1926 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America by the Rev. M. F. Abraham, and confirmed March 17, 1940 at the same church by the Rev. W. P. Kramer.
Rosella married Elford A. Stern Feb. 17, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America by the Rev. W.P. Kramer.
Rosella was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, and took great pleasure in cooking, baking, and gardening. She loved traveling, especially to Germany, Austria, and Hawaii; and enjoyed spending time with her dog, Snoopy.
She is survived by her loving family, husband Elford; children and spouses Alan and Elaine Stern, Sandra and David Dickinson, all of Lester Prairie, and Gary and Sandra Stern of Norwood Young America; grandchildren Bryan, Sean, Kyle, Shari (Donny), Stephen Jr., Stacy, Lonnie, Chad, Chet, Aleaha, and Trista; and great-grandchildren Camron, Samantha, Gabriel, Nikolas, Cortney and Dominick.
Rosella is further survived by a sister, Ervina Mason of Minnetonka; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Betty Schwartz, Paulina and LeRoy Gutzke, all of Norwood Young America, Leonard and Carol Stern of Watertown, Lucille and LeRoy Henning of New Germany, Henry Jr. and Phyllis Stern of Maple Plain, Don and Rosie Stern of Mayer, and Fred Stern of Hopkins; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Ferdinand and Emma Schwartz; sisters Corda Schwartz and Rayma Berry; brothers Elmer, Melvin, and Norman Schwartz; father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry F. and Regina (Jenneke) Stern; and brother-in-law Louis Stern.
Services were Thursday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany, with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating. Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Rosella’s grandsons, Bryan Stern, Sean Stern, Stephen Meyer Jr., Stacy Meyer, Chad Stern, and Chet Stern.
Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
