Charleen Mary Stotko obituary, 9/10/06


Charleen Mary Stotko, age 78, of Winsted, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born June 2, 1928 in Watertown, the daughter of Arnold and Rosella Steiner Guggemos.
Charleen graduated from Holy Trinity High School May 31, 1946.
She was joined in holy marriage with Joseph Stotko Jan. 25, 1950 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Charleen was formerly employed at a bank in Winsted, and also at Green Giant. She later took over a tax service established by her father, and renamed it C. M. Stotko Tax Service. For many years, she was a tax preparer, doing lots of accounting for local businesses and area residents.
A faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Charleen belonged to its Council of Catholic Women.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, bowling, dancing, big band music, playing piano, gardening, golfing, traveling, shopping, playing cards, and sewing.
Charleen is survived by her loving children: Steve (Nancy) Stotko, Jody (Gary) Lenz, all of Winsted, and Amy (Wade) Schultz of Lester Prairie; grandchildren Jamason “Jamie” (Shelley) Stotko, Joachim “Joe” (Katie) Stotko, and Jeffrey “Jeff’ (Julie) Stotko; Aaron (Joy) Wiemiller, Ryan (Kristine) Wiemiller, Jonathan “Jon” Wiemiller, and Mariah Lenz; and Taylor and Garrett Schultz; and great-grandchildren Alexis, Samantha, Kennedy, Jefferson, Reagan, and Connor.
She is further survived by sisters Joan (Robert) Kasper of Brainerd, Mary (Linus) Stifter of Springfield, and Karen Sawatzke of Waverly; a brother, Dean (Jane) Guggemos of Montevideo; two sisters-in-law, Mary Guggemos of Prairie Village, Kans., and Laura Stotko of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Vincent Stotko of St. Louis, Mo.; and many other relatives and friends.
Charleen was preceded in death by her husband, “Joe” Stotko, in 1981; her parents, Arnold and Rosella Guggemos; a brother, Stanley “Bud” Guggemos; and a brother-in-law, Bill Sawatzke.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation was Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Casket bearers were Charleen’s nephews: Dr. Edward Henk, Randy Henk, Tom Kasper, Bill Kasper, David Guggemos, Paul Stifter, Charles Stifter, Joel Sawatzke, and Neal Sawatzke.
Arrangements were by the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
