Esther Dora Lydia Stuewe obituary, 7/26/06


Funeral services for Esther Dora Lydia (Rolf) Stuewe, age 86, of Hamburg were Saturday, July 29, from the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. Esther died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born Feb. 6, 1920 to Samuel and Marie (Henschen) Rolf in Young America Township, Carver County. Esther was baptized Feb. 15, 1920, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hamburg by the Rev. Bouman; and was confirmed by the same March 25, 1934. She attended the Emanuel Parochial School.
Esther was united in marriage with Howard Stuewe April 10, 1939 at Emanuel by the Rev. Bouman. The couple made their home on a farm just outside of Hamburg.
Howard died in September of 1999. Esther continued to live on the farm until the winter of 2003, when she became a resident at Westwood Place in Watertown.
In July of 2005, she moved to the Lighthouse in Waconia, where she lived until becoming a resident at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center in January 2006.
Esther enjoyed volunteering at Emanuel’s church and school, gardening, flowers, and playing cards. She cherished whenever the family was together, and loved following her children and grandchildren in their activities.
Survivors include her children, Dorlene Thiesfeld of White Bear Lake, Dennis (Rita) Stuewe of Somerset, N.J., Wendell (Joan) Stuewe, Myron (Monique) Stuewe, all of Hamburg, Corliss (James) Jochum of Carver, Gerald (Donna) Stuewe, James Stuewe, Dale (Karene) Stuewe, all of Hamburg, David (Joyce) Stuewe of Apple Valley, Janice Stuewe of Lester Prairie, Curtis Stuewe of Hamburg, and Lori (Brian) Paumen of Maple Lake.
Esther is further survived by grandchildren, Kim (Joe) McAulay, Randy (Ruth) Thiesfeld, Denise (J.J.) Quenault, Michael (Suzanne) Stuewe, Meghan (Billy) Hayes, Dean (Kelli) Stuewe, Melissa (Paul) Fuhrman, Paula (Dave) Kirsch, Jenny (Jeremy) Rice, Tim Stuewe and fiancée Sarah, Linda (Greg) Sons, Sheila (Ron) Erpenbach, Brigitte (Jon) Kohls, Natalie Stuewe and special friend Justin, Gina (Juan) Mitchell, Sarah (Dave) Lipke, Dan Jochum and fiancée Donna, Michelle (Dana) Cox, Jeff (Renae) Stuewe, Tiffany (Shaun) Simonson, Joshua Stuewe, Tricia Stuewe, Christy Stuewe, Jennifer Remer, Eric (Jessie) Bentz, Chet Stuewe, Andy (Jodene) Stuewe, Emily Stuewe, Sean Stuewe, Blake Paumen, Brynn Paumen, Brielle Paumen, and Brock Paumen.
She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Amanda, Lindsey, and Taylor McAulay, Connor and Carter Thiesfeld, Chase Quenault, Michael and Matthew Stuewe, Riley Hayes, Evan Stuewe, Jacob, Sam, and Joan Fuhrman, Meghan, Davis, Maria, and Ethan Kirsch, Brenna, Anthony, and Mason Rice, Claire, Anna, and Maria Sons, Alexis and Kellen Erpenbach, Tanner, Jordon, and Brayden Kohls, Steffon, Garret, and Maya Mitchell, Brent and Grace Lipke, Kiersten Stuewe, Lily and Broyden Stuewe, Parker Simonson, Taylor Bentz, Allison, Eric, and Jacob Bentz, and Hannah Stuewe.
Esther is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Norma Stuewe of Belle Plaine, Harold Hill of Mayer, and Robert and Marion Stuewe of Cologne; as well as many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Howard, Esther is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Friedel Thiesfeld; brother Henry Rolf; infant brother Lorenz Rolf; and sisters, Hilda Eggers and Malinda Buckentine.
Officiating at the funeral service was the Rev. Donald Andrix. The organist was Betsy Werner. The Emanuel men’s choir sang “Es Giebt Ein Reich Da Jesus Thront” and “Abide With Me.” The congregational hymns were “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” and “I Am Content My Jesus Ever Lives.” Interment followed in the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Randy Thiesfeld, Dan Jochum, Michael Stuewe, Jeff Stuewe, Dean Stuewe, Josh Stuewe, Tim Stuewe, Chet Stuewe, Sean Stuewe, and Andy Stuewe. The honorary pallbearers were the grandchildren.
The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled the arrangements.
