Roger Virgil Voss
Roger Virgil Voss, age 50 of Burnsville, died Saturday, June 10, 2006.
Roger was born the son of August and Florence (Jorgensen) Voss, June 19, 1955 in Glencoe. He was baptized July 17, 1955 at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Lester Prairie by Rev. Vomhof, and later confirmed into the faith March 30, 1969, also at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, by Rev. Norman Steinke.
Roger graduated from Lester Prairie High School in 1973. He enlisted in the United States Air Force October 26, 1973, and was later honorably discharged Sept. 23, 1979 with the rank of sergeant. After serving in the Air Force, Roger lived in Illinois, and has lived in Burnsville for the last 16 years. He enjoyed watching old TV shows and was an avid golfer until his legs started to get too bad to golf. Roger liked to go biking and enjoyed being out in nature until his health started to fail.
Roger Voss entered his eternal rest at the age of 50 years, 11 months, and 22 days.
He is survived by his mother Florence Voss, of Lester Prairie; brother Richard (Leslie) Voss, of Lester Prairie; nieces and nephew, Alisa (Robert) Forpahl, of Ostego, Melinda Voss-Anderson (special friend, Bucky Schmidt) of Silver Lake, and Tom Voss of Clarksville, Tenn., as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Roger Voss took place Thursday, June 15, 2006 at 11 a.m., at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie. Officiating was the Rev. Eric Nelson. Serving as casket bearers were Tom Voss, Robert Forpahl, Bucky Schmidt, Matthew Gangelhoff, Jeff Sternerson, and Jerry Peterson. Interment was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation took place Wednesday evening at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel.
