Alvin Fred Wegner obituary, 11/16/06


Alvin Fred Wegner, age 83, of rural Plato, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
He was born Oct. 25, 1923 in Stewart, Minn., the son of Hugo and Bertha (Reinlien) Wegner.
Alvin entered the US Navy and served during World War II, until his honorable discharge.
Alvin took employment with the Laurence Debner family as a farmhand in December 1965.
He enjoyed woodworking, farming, taking care of animals, and visiting with friends.
Alvin was a big sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins. He will be remembered as a special friend who accepted everyone as they are.
Alvin is survived by his special family, Allan and Sue Debner, Christina Debner, Abigail Debner, Anne Debner, Dale and Kathy Debner, Bethany and Tim Harman, Alyssa Debner, Norman Mathews, Erwin and Ruth Mathews, Anna Mathews, Hillard Mathews, Lorna Ehrke, and Myrtle Mathews, as well as many dear friends.
A memorial service took place Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Care Center Chapel in Winsted, with the Rev. Eric Nelson officiating. Deb Olson was the organist. The musical selections were “My Faith Looks Up To Thee,” “I’m But A Stranger Here,” “Jesus, Still Lead On,” and “Stand Up For Jesus.” Interment was in the Linden Wood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Visitation took place for one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America.
