Funeral services for Gordon David “Corky” Winterfeldt, age 62 of Brownton, were Thursday, Jan. 12, from Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton, with the Rev. Andrew Hermodson-Olsen officiating.
Gordon died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at his home in Brownton.
Organist was Eunice Warner, and soloist Rosine Hermodson-Olsen sang “On Eagle’s Wings” and “The King Is Coming.” Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” and “My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less.”
Honorary pallbearers were Brownton Fire Department members.
Active pallbearers were Matt Loncorich, Cy Loncorich, Bob Uecker, Greg Markgraf, Robert Wisch, and Gary Ahlbrecht. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Gordon was born Oct. 8, 1943 in Glencoe to Ervin Winterfeldt and Selma (Lindeman) Winterfeldt. He was baptized as an infant Nov. 7, 1943 by the Rev. M. Schultz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, and was confirmed in his faith June 9, 1957, at Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton.
He received his education in Brownton and was a graduate of the Brownton High School Class of 1961.
Gordon was a lifelong resident of Brownton. He held employment at the Brownton Creamery, and later as a plumber for Quade’s in Hutchinson. He was a member of the Plumbers Union Local No. 15 in the Twin Cities.
A member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton, Gordon also served as a volunteer with the Brownton Fire Department for 25 years, was a member of the Brownton City Council for seven years, and a member of the Brownton Rod and Gun Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and taking care of his home and yard. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends.
Survivors include his sisters, Gladys Markgraf of Buffalo Lake, and Donna Loncorich of Brownton; half-brother LeRoy (Dorothy) Winterfeldt of Sebeka; nephews Cy (Sherrie) Loncorich of Brownton, Matt (Jeannine) Loncorich of New Auburn, Robert Uecker of Buffalo Lake, Thomas Uecker of Biloxi, Miss., Darrel (Jennifer) Winterfeldt Jr. of Dickson, Tenn., Greg (Tammy) Markgraf of Buffalo Lake, and Brian Winterfeldt of Dassel; nieces Shirley (Ken) Bombach of Willmar, Paula (Cliff) Rasmussen of Buffalo Lake, and Kay (Mark) Christ of Dassel; many great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Darrel Winterfeldt; sister-in-law Harriet Winterfeldt; brothers-in-law David Markgraf and Henry Loncorich; nephew Steven Uecker; and great-nephew Chad Uecker.
Arrangements were by the Hantge Funeral Chapel in Brownton.
