Erna Laura Wolfsteller, age 83 of Howard Lake, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at Howard Lake Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
She was born April 9, 1922 in Victor Township, Howard Lake to Frederick and Amalia (Elfmann) Mielke. Erna was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake May 5, 1922 by the Rev A.L. Oetjen; and confirmed in her faith at the same church May 3, 1936 by the Rev C.E. Seltz.
Erna was married to Victor Wolfsteller Oct. 15, 1941 at St. James Lutheran Church by the Rev Eugene Seltz. They had two sons.
Erna and Victor farmed near Albion Center until 1956, when they moved to Howard Lake.
Erna was a 20-year employee of 3M.
She is survived by her son, Rick (Lonna) of Monticello; daughter-in-law, Judy Wolfsteller of Mound; grandchildren, Erica (Gary) Cuneen of Oak Park, Ill., Angela (Loren) Fujiwara of Elmhurst, Ill. and Aaron of Mound; great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Julia, and Devin Cuneen, and Emily and Jake Fujiwara; and many nieces and nephews.
Erna was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Gary; two brothers; and seven sisters, including her twin sister, Irma.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Maple Lake with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Palmer officiating. Music was by Myrna Jude and David Schmidt. Interment followed at Howard Lake City Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 19 from 4 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake; and continued for one hour prior to the funeral service Friday.
Casket bearers were Harold Blanchette, Dale Engel, Larry Holland, Arvid Uecker, Gerald Uecker, and Tom Zander.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake.
