Ronald Maxon Woodward, age 52, of Shakopee, formerly of Cokato, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, as the result of a motorcycle accident.
He was born April 23, 1954 in Cokato to Wayne and Phyllis (Metcalf) Woodward. Ron was baptized and confirmed at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato.
He graduated from Cokato High School with the class of 1972. Ron then went on to St. Cloud State University and later, Brown University.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman. He especially loved motorcycling, flying, and woodworking.
Ron was employed by the DNR for a time, as a computer programmer for Sterner Lighting Systems in Winsted, and for the past 10 years, he was employed by Farmers Home Insurance, which is now Western National Insurance.
He is survived by his mother, Phyllis, of Cokato; two brothers, Frederick (Diane) of Chisago City and Russell of Chokio; two nieces; relatives in California; and special friend Barbara Gould of Chanhassen.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Wayne, in 2004; and his grandparents.
A memorial service took place Friday, Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato, with the Rev. Steve Thorson officiating. Music was provided by Karen Anderson and Toni Thorson. Interment followed in Howard Lake City Cemetery.
Visitation took place for one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
