Harold J. Wylie, 79, Kimball, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at St. Cloud Hospital.
Services were Monday, Jan. 16, at Dassel Covenant Church with Pastors Mike McCain and Joan Tyvoll officiating. Military honors were provided by the Kingston American Legion. Interment was at Lake Union Cemetery, South Haven.
Harold Joseph Wylie was born May 25, 1926, to Edmond and Elsie (Shultz) Wylie in Watkins. He grew up in the Kimball-Watkins area, graduating from Kimball High School in 1944.
He joined the US Army during the Occupation of Japan where he served as an MP and drove Emperor Hirohito.
Harold married Marie McCain April 29, 1950. They resided in Kingston Township where they farmed.
In 1962, Harold began selling livestock feed for Moorman Manufacturing Co., retiring in 1989.
He was a feed salesman with the heart of a farmer and became good friends with everyone on his route. He received many awards as the top salesman multiple years.
Harold was a Kingston Township board member and supervisor for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, his tractor and his motor home.
Harold’s best achievement was being the best grandpa in the world.
Survivors include his wife; children, Linda (Dale) Atkinson, Scotty (Donna), Tom (Trudy Harstad), Gale (Rollie) Heid, all of Kingston, and Joanie (Steve) Tyvoll of Spring Valley, Wis.; grandchildren, Travis (Traci) Atkinson, Amanda Atkinson, Rebecca Atkinson, Autum (Travis) Haaf, Kari (Jeremy) Johnston, Joshua (Jody Janssen) Wylie, David (Katie) Tyvoll, Benjamin (Kaaren) Tyvoll, Sean Wylie, Laurestine Wylie, Nicole Deutsch, Jeremy Heid and Bradyn Heid; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Trey, Jenna, Payton, Samuel, Allyson, Matthew and Kahlon; and sisters, Hazel Vick of Minneapolis, and Dorothy (Douglas) Buystedt of Crystal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilbert and Edward; sister, Gladys; and grandson, Jonathan Harold Tyvoll.
Arrangements were made by Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home.
