Donna Mae Yurek
Funeral services for Donna Mae Yurek, age 60, of Silver Lake, were Saturday, July 22 from Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Donna died Monday, July 17, 2006, at Birchwood Hospice House in Hutchinson.
She was born Sept. 27, 1945, in St. Cloud, to Ferdinand A. and Bertha (Ressemann) Rueter.
Donna was united in marriage to Duane L. Yurek April 8, 1967 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waite Park.
Through the years, Donna was employed as a Headstart aide, day care worker, and executive director of Minnesota Jaycee Women. She was also employed at Shamla’s Marathon station in Silver Lake, and in medical records at the Glencoe clinic.
Donna was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, where she was active in the CCW. She also was a member of the Silver Lake Civic Association, Silver Lake Centennial Committee, Jaycee Women, Silver Lake Lions, community education, and the Glencoe-Silver Lake Sports Booster Club. She chaired the Silver Lake Pola-Czesky Days for many years.
Donna enjoyed the family’s cabin near Richmond, was an avid reader, and crocheted baby blankets. She was fond of travelling and Bouja. Her main enjoyment was her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Duane L. Yurek; children David (Stacy) Yurek of Silver Lake, Deanne (Jeffrey) Shaw of Watertown, and Dallas (Julie) Yurek of Glencoe; grandchildren Nigel, Teague, and Remi Shaw, Elijah Yurek, Dillion Carner, and Torin and Bianca Rueter; two nieces and a nephew, to whom she was a guardian, Mona Rueter, Paula Rueter, and Dean “D.J.” Rueter; sisters Catherine Tripp of Florida, and Dolores (Albert) Vos-Tonn of St. Cloud, and many other relatives and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dominic and Elsie Yurek; two brothers, David and Jim Rueter; and three sisters, Jane Idler, Carol Rueter, and Linda Rueter.
The Msgr. Eugene Lozinski officiated at the funeral service. Interment followed at Holy Family Cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Karen Eckstein, Roxanne Yurek, Lynn Monger, Colleen Tschimperle, Debi (Stegmeier) Ramirez, and Sue Jurek.
Arrangements were by the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.
