Carole Ann Zurnieden

Carole Ann Bolz Zurnieden, age 70, of Delano, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006 surrounded by her loving family.

Carole fought a courageous battle against kidney failure and staph infection. When the Lord said, “My child, it is time to come home,” she left this world as she lived her life, without complaint.

Carole, the cake lady, as she was known for 30 years, delighted many at weddings and special occasions with her exquisite cakes and pastries. These creations were always delivered on time and with a smile.

She was a natural at artistry, and humble for her works. Her hands were an extension of what laid in her heart; a bounty of kindness, love, faith in the Lord, and compassion for others.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Henry “Hank” and Mabel Bolz; an infant brother, Donald; and two infant grandsons, Ryan and Kyle Foss.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl and Grady Foss, Lorna and Dan Lyrek, and Heidi and Kevin Voss; grandsons Kelley Foss, Sam, Jack, and Ben Voss; brother Michael and Karen Bolz; sister Linda and Dave Demars; godson Jason and Loni Bolz; nephew Justin and Kim Bolz; great niece and nephew Kate and Leo; nephews Aaron and godson Troy Will; and great niece and nephew April and TJ Will; as well as many cherished cousins and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, with the Rev. Michael Miller officiating.

Casket bearers were Grady Foss, Dan Lyrek, Kelley Foss, Kevin Voss, Aaron Will, Justin Bolz, Jason Bolz, Sam Voss, Jack Voss, and Ben Voss.

Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
