Dale Harry Anderson
Dale Harry Anderson, age 80, of Dassel, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1926, in Middleville Township, Wright County, the son of Harry and Ethel (Swanson) Anderson. Dale grew up in the Howard Lake area and was baptized and confirmed at the Highland Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. He graduated from the Howard Lake High School in 1944.
Dale was inducted into the US Army Aug. 3, 1944. He served his country during World War II in the armored infantry, fighting in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns.
Dale was united in marriage to Lorna Yager May 3, 1947. Together, they made their home in the Minneapolis area, before moving to Dassel.
Dale was employed by the US Postal Service in the Robbinsdale and Golden Valley area, and had delivered mail on the bottom floors of the IDS Tower in Minneapolis. After retiring from the postal service, he drove a bus for the Dassel-Cokato school district.
He was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel, and had been a member of the Litchfield Area Male Chorus for many years.
Dale enjoyed lending anyone a hand who needed help, and also enjoyed helping Lorna with the house chores, and anything else that needed to be done around the home. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and watching them play. He will deeply be missed by family and friends.
Dale is survived by his wife, Lorna, of Dassel; children, Vicki (Chuck) Stenson of South Haven, Cynthia Anderson of Litchfield, and Ross (Elizabeth) Anderson of Dassel; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard (Pat) Anderson of Robbinsdale; and a sister, Beatrice Main of Howard Lake.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Dale Anderson; his parents; and a sister, Norma.
A funeral service took place Friday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with the Rev. John Peterson officiating. Congregational hymns were “Borning Cry,” “In The Garden,” and “It Is Well With My Soul.” The Men’s Quartet sang selected songs, and the organist was Harvey Peterson. Interment was at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 4 rom 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, and continued for one hour prior to the service at the church Friday.
Casketbearers were Steve Keute, Melissa Keute, Nathan Anderson, Jane Anderson, Raina Dow, Chad Stenson, Anne Hutchinson, Ellen Hutchinson, and Tiffany Cox.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
