Helen (Magnuson) Anderson, age 78, of Little Falls, formerly of Kingston, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.
She was born April 10, 1927 in Kingston Township, Meeker County, the daughter of Archie and Myrtle (Cates) Magnuson. Helen received her education from Kimball High School, and graduated in 1945.
She was united in marriage to Donald Anderson May 28, 1949 at the Methodist church in Kimball. Together, Helen and Donald made their home in the Kingston community until they moved to their lake home in Cushing, Minn. in 1998.
An active member of the Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Cokato, Helen loved music and always encouraged her children’s and grandchildren’s talents. She loved to travel, and Don and Helen traveled south to Texas and Arizona for the winters. Helen also especially enjoyed the time that she spent at the lake cabin.
She is survived by her two children, Randy (Ruth) Anderson of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., and Lanny (Nancy) Anderson of Randall, Minn.; three grandchildren, Rebecca (Travis) Hoover, Elizabeth, and Remington; a brother, Rodney Magnuson of Litchfield; and a sister, Dorothy Jensen of Kimball.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, April 12, 2001; her parents; and one sister, Alice.
A funeral service took place Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Cokato with the Rev. Lyndon Korhonen officiating. The organist was Linda Korhonen, and hymns included “Near The Cross,” and “How Great Thou Art.” Interment was at the Lake Arvilla Cemetery, rural Dassel.
Visitation was Tuesday evening, Feb. 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, and continued Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Casketbearers were Kevin Anderson, Craig Anderson, Ryan Ruopsa, George Jensen, Rob Magnuson, and Steve Anderson.
