Martin William Anderson
Martin William Anderson, age 75, of New York Mills, formerly of Delano, died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
He was born at home in Scherwood, N.D. to Henry and Angelena (Lindemood) Anderson. Martin grew up on the family farm in rural Scherwood, and graduated with the class of 1950 from Scherwood High School.
He served his country during the Korean War with the US Navy.
Returning from service, Martin attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.
For the next 30 years, Martin was employed with Gartner Refrigeration in Minneapolis as a certified welder, field supervisor, and a service manager. In 1965, he returned to his farming roots by purchasing land and horses in Plymouth.
In 1969, Martin moved his farm to Delano, until 1995, when he and his wife, Kim, made their home in rural New York Mills.
Martin always enjoyed a cup of coffee, and visiting about the weather was his favorite pastime.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Dora.
Martin is survived by his wife, Kimberly Anderson of New York Mills; four daughters, Jennifer (Joe) Ybarra of Stoughton, Wis., JoLynn Anderson of Fargo, N.D., Annie Anderson, and Kelsi Anderson, both of New York Mills; two sons, Charles (Lynn) Anderson of Medford, Ore., and Dan (Dawn) Anderson of Montrose; two grandchildren, Dylan and Maxwell; a brother, Harry Anderson of Towner, N.D.; many other relatives; and a host of friends.
Memorial services took place Wednesday, June 20 at 10 a.m. at Karvonen & Son Funeral Home in New York Mills.
