Eldora Geneva Anderson
Eldora Geneva Anderson, age 85, of Cokato, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007 at her home.
She was born May 15, 1922 at Lamson, Minn. to John and Anna (Swanson) Bjork. Eldora grew up on the farm at Lamson, and attended the Lamson Country School and Dassel High School. She was confirmed at the Lamson Free Church.
Eldora met August Anderson at Northland Canning during a corn pack in the ‘40s. They were married April 15, 1944 at the Lamson Free Church.
The couple made their home on a farm in Lamson, where they milked cows and farmed the land. Eldora had a custom hay baling business and worked at the Stockholm Store. August became the manager of Northland Canning, and they both spent much of their working lives employed at the canning company, with Eldora working in various capacities.
Eldora was very active in many things including home extension, and the Lamson birthday club, and enjoyed spending time with the neighbors and relatives.
She was a member of the Stockholm Lutheran Church, rural Cokato, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Sara Circle, WELCA, and the quilting group, and served as a Hi-league leader and in many other ways over the years.
She also volunteered at Burns Manor and Cokato Manor.
Eldora also enjoyed working with August in their wood shop, and took pride in her huge lawn.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Baseman of Willmar, and Nancy (Allan) Anderson of South Haven; grandchildren, Karna (Durk) Baseman Stark of Pepin, Kimberly (Kevin) Schliesman of Rochester, Benjamin Anderson of Chisago City, Kristoff (Mandy) Licklider Baseman of Minneapolis, Brendon Anderson of Burnsville, and Brianna Anderson of Rockford; great-grandchildren Karolina Eldora Stark and Jacob and Lucas Schliesman; sisters-in-law Ardis Bjork and Florence Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Eldora was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Bjork; her husband, August; son-in-law Dale Baseman; brothers Francis, Russell, Clifford, Clinton, and Rollan; and sister Sylvia Vogel.
Funeral service was Monday, Sept. 17 at 11 am. at Stockholm Lutheran Church with the Rev. Karna Baseman Stark and Signe Gray, AiM officiating. Music was provided by Karen Anderson, Fred Anderson, and Stephanie Stephens. Interment was at Stockholm Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Megan Anderson, Jim Bjork, John Bjork, Mike Holmquist, Jeff Lindquist, and Mary Schmeling. Honorary casket bearers were Karna Baseman Stark, Kimberly Schliesman, Benjamin Anderson, Kristoff Licklider Baseman, Brendon Anderson, and Brianna Anderson.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
