Yvonne H. “Vonnie” Bahr
Yvonne H. “Vonnie” Bahr, age 66, of Mayer, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007 at her home after a 12-year battle with cancer.
She was born May 15, 1941 in New Auburn Twp, the daughter of Melvin O. and Helen (Krecklau) Franke. Vonnie was baptized June 1, 1941 at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe by the Rev. William Mueller, and confirmed May 29, 1955 at the same church by the Rev. Harold Bode.
Vonnie was married to Kenneth H. Bahr July 1, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. Fred Riedel.
Vonnie enjoyed going to the cabin with her family. She adored her grandchildren; and loved flowers and gardening. One of her hobbies was collecting cows and cow-related items. She also liked to travel and was grateful for the trip she took to Germany.
Vonnie was fond of living in a small town and working with friends at Coast-to-Coast and the Methodist Hospital.
She is survived by her loving family: husband Kenneth, daughters and son-in-law Kelley Bahr of Waconia, and Patty and Joel Sievers of Cologne; grandchildren Devyn and Lauryn Sievers; mother Helen Franke of Mayer; sisters Romayne Hahn of Glencoe, and Sharon Born of Coon Rapids; brother and sister-in-law Leon and Kathy Franke of Delano; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Vonnie was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Franke; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Vernetta Bahr; and brother-in-law Gerald Hahn.
The funeral service took place Monday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with the Revs. Adam C. Gless and Lucas Woodford officiating. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Ricky Hahn, Brad Hahn, Kris Georges, Chris Wilbur, Bill Born, and Dan Noga.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
