Ina Johanna Barber obituary, 9/11/07


Ina Johanna Barber, age 90, of Buffalo, formerly of Dassel and Cokato, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 at Sunrise Cottages in Buffalo.
She was born Oct. 29, 1916 to Swante and Lempi (Alaniva) Kosola at Lead, S.D. The family moved to the Newell, S.D. area the following year to farm. Ina grew up in the Newell area, and graduated from Newell High School.
Ina married Everett Barber June 25, 1938. To this union, five children were born, Everett Jr, twins, Betty Jean and Carol Joyce; Robert, and Gary.
The family farmed until 1964, when they moved to the Minneapolis area. They then lived in the Annandale, Dassel, and Cokato areas.
Ina worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis for 15 years, and after moving to Cokato, she worked at the Dassel (Midwest) Chicken Hatchery.
She resided at Sunrise Cottages in Buffalo for the past 11 and one-half months.
Ina is survived by her sons, Everett (Cathy) of Missoula, Mont., Robert of Cokato, and Gary (Nancy) of Plymouth; stepdaughter Mary Ann (Dick) Wuollet of Cokato; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 12 great, great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by sisters, Ruth Nash and Edna McDade of California, Esther (Hayward) Wilson of Sun City, Ariz., Florence (Monroe) Arnold of Spearfish, S.D., and Irene Winger of Rapid City, S.D.; a brother, Don (Jane) Kosola of Menahga, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters in faith.
Ina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Betty Jean Larson, and Carol Joyce, who died in infancy; one granddaughter; three brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral service was Saturday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. at First Apostolic Lutheran Church, Cokato, with Pastor Mark Koivisto officiating. Music was provided by Diane Grangroth. Interment was in the Cokato Finnish Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, Sept. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
Casket bearers were Brian Barber, Bruce Barber, Dennis Barber, Jared Barber, Mike Barber, Ken Larson, and Mark Wuollet.
Arrangements were by Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
