Elsie L. Becker
Elsie L. Becker, age 96, of Watertown, died Monday, June 18, 2007 at the Elim Home of Watertown.
She was born Dec. 31, 1910 in Benton Twp, Cologne, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Brelje) Ortlip. Elsie was baptized Jan. 15, 1911 at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Twp., by the Rev. August Rehwaldt, and confirmed April 13, 1924 at the same church by the Rev. H. AmEnd.
Elsie was united in marriage to Harold R. Becker July 18, 1928 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church parsonage in Delano by the Rev. Bruns.
A loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma, Elsie loved watching baseball and softball games. She also enjoyed going out to eat, and was a kind and loving woman that would help anybody who needed it.
She served on the school board of Hollywood Twp. in her earlier years.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; daughter Delores Theisen; grandson Steven Herrmann; great-granddaughter Eve Theisen; parents Henry and Anna Ortlip; brothers and sisters-in-law Clarence and Elvira Ortlip, Fred Ortlip, and Erna Dalbec; sisters and brother-in-law Hilda and Ralph Herrmann, Irene Ortlip, and Selma Damann; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Bertha Becker.
She is survived by her daughter and sons-in-law Janet and Wally Herrmann of Watertown, and Kenneth Theisen of Waverly; grandchildren Gary and Cindy Theisen, Mark and Cheree Theisen, Danny Theisen, Michael Theisen and special friend, Dawn Demarais, Lonnie and Marci Theisen, Lorie and Mike Speltz, and Randy and Lynn Herrmann; and great-grandchildren, Brooke and Mike Cebulala, Mitchell Theisen, Tessa Theisen, Christopher Theisen, Nicole Chowen, Bobbi Jo and Andy Fleshman, Scott Theisen, Jackie Theisen, Wenonah Carmody, Eugene and Angie Speltz, Ross Theisen, Dane Theisen, Jake Theisen, Luke Theisen, Brody Herrmann, and Spencer Herrmann.
Elsie is further survived by great-grandchildren Tyson, Elsa, Cooper, Addison, Elliott, Ira, Greg, Joe, and Paige; sister and brother-in-law Cordula and Norman Vinkemeier of Glencoe; sister-in-law Alice Becker of Mayer; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was Friday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Paul Krentz officiating. Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery in New Germany.
Casket bearers were Gary Theisen, Mark Theisen, Danny Theisen, Michael Theisen, Lonnie Theisen, and Randy Herrmann.
Visitation took place Thursday, June 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, and continued Friday, one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
