Rodney Carl Bjork
Rodney Carl Bjork, age 71, of Cokato, died Monday, April 9, 2007 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
He was born Oct. 21, 1935 in Stockholm Township to Carl Joseph and Alice (Johnson) Bjork. Rodney was baptized at North Crow River Lutheran Church at Knapp, and confirmed in his faith at Stockholm Lutheran Church. He attended Dahl School.
Rodney was married to Marlyce Wraspir April 30, 1957 at Czech Brethren Presbyterian Church (now Faith Presbyterian Church) in Silver Lake. To this union, two sons were born, Byron and Ryan.
Rodney was employed at Stockholm Co-op Creamery, then at Millerbernd Manufacturing in Winsted as a metal cutter, retiring from Millerbernd Manufacturing after 31 years, in 1997. During these years, Rodney was also farming.
Following this retirement, Rodney worked for Holt Motors in Cokato until the time of his death.
Rodney’s greatest enjoyment was farming and later, restoring old tractors. He loved camping, fishing, and traveling, and enjoyed many wonderful trips with his wife, Marlyce and friends.
Rodney was a member of Western Minnesota Steam Threshers, the Central Minnesota 2 Cylinder Club, a charter member of Good Sam Late Risers, Allegro Adventures 97 Camping Club, and a faithful member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marlyce, of Cokato; sons, Byron (Connie) of Hutchinson, and Ryan of Cokato; grandsons Christopher (fiancé Jill Gierke) of St. Cloud, Gregory (Jenna) of Woodbury, and Timothy of Hutchinson; and many relatives and friends.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Arlene Evenski.
Funeral service was Saturday, April 14 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Christina Berry. Music was provided by Barb Wawrzyniak. Interment was at Stockholm Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cokato.
Visitation took place Friday, April 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and continued Saturday for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Pallbearers were Byron Bjork, Ryan Bjork, Connie Bjork, Christopher Bjork, Gregory Bjork, and Timothy Bjork.
Arrangements were by the Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
