Marilyn (Eastlund) Blackhurst, age 82, of Medford, Ore., formerly of Cokato, died Tuesday Feb. 13, 2007 at the Rogue Valley Manor in Medford.
Marilyn was born in Cokato July 10, 1924, the daughter of Hannah and Algot Eastlund. She had two younger brothers, Kenneth and Lloyd.
She graduated from Cokato High School in 1942, and from Gustavus Adolphus College in St.Peter, Minn.
While at college, Marilyn met the love of her life, Kent Blackhurst, a young lieutenant in the Navy ROTC program at Gustavus. They were married at the Lutheran church in Cokato Sept. 7, 1945.
When World War 11 ended, the couple moved to Eugene, Ore., where Kent attended the University of Oregon Law School. Upon graduation, they moved to Medford.
In addition to her husband of more than 61 years, Kent, Marilyn is survived by her brother, Kenneth; four children, Steven, Jill, John, and Julie; four grandchildren, Amanda, Bryan, Jenna, and Elissa; son-in-law George Sheridan; and daughters-in-law Crunchy Blackhurst, and Kristi Blackhurst.
Marilyn was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Medford. Her favorite day of the week was Sunday. She loved singing and listening to church hymns and looked forward to the fellowship she experienced at church.
A memorial service took place at Ascension Lutheran Church in Medford Saturday, Feb. 17 with the Rev. Robert Larson officiating. Interment was at Eagle Point National VA Cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore.
