Ethel Emma Bredt (nee Teske), age 88, of Buffalo, died peacefully Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home of Howard Lake.
She was born Dec. 14, 1919, to Julius and Emilie Teske in Isabel, S.D.
In 1935, Ethel moved to Buffalo. She was confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Buffalo by Pastor Sauer in 1937.
She was a graduate of Buffalo High School, class of 1938.
Ethel was united in marriage to Bernard T. Bredt Dec. 26, 1943. They were happily married for 49 years.
Ethel enjoyed her life as a homemaker. She was a great cook who always had a cookie or loaf of banana bread to share. Her flowers and vegetable gardens also brought great joy.
For many years, Ethel worked for Millie Larson preparing Rotary lunches at Olson’s Point. She was an active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Buffalo, where she often shared her gift of cooking.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; sister, Delores Wendt; and brother, Oliver Teske.
She is survived by a son, Paul (Sheila Kroger) Bredt of South Haven; a sister, Camilla Ericsson of Salem, S.D.; and several nieces, nephews, grand nephews, and grand nieces. Ethel was a grandmother to Sheila’s children and grandchildren.
The funeral service took place Saturday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Buffalo. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery of Buffalo.
Visitation was Friday, Dec. 28 at the Peterson Chapel of Buffalo from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and continued Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo served the family.
