Scott Alan Briesemeister
Scott Alan Briesemeister, age 45, of Maplewood, died suddenly Sunday, June 10, 2007 at his home.
He was born July 19, 1961 in Watertown to Vernon and Elaine (Zuehl) Briesemeister. Scott was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church parsonage Aug. 6, 1961, and confirmed March 23, 1975 at the church.
Scott married Debra Holmquist March 9, 1985 at St. Paul’s; they were later divorced.
Scott had recently transferred his life-long St. Paul membership to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
A class of 1979 graduate of Lester Prairie High School, Scott went on to study for two years at St. Cloud State University.
He worked at Green Giant in Glencoe as a young man, then he was a painter for 15 years at Advanced Mechanics in Plymouth. He began working for the US Postal Service in the early 1990s, and was currently working as a mail sorter in the surrounding Metro areas.
Scott enjoyed the outdoors and sports including miniature golf, fishing, swimming, biking, football, baseball, camping, traveling, amusement parks, bonfires, Frisbee, the AIDS walk-a-thon, and watching the Twins, especially when they played in open-air arenas. He also enjoyed many indoor activities such as bowling, movies, monster jam, and playing cards.
Whether inside or out, Scott enjoyed spending time with his kids, and a good cold beer. He was blessed with a brilliant mathematical mind and liked to work problems in his head.
Scott is survived by his children, Anna Briesemeister (KaCee McKenzie), and Philip Briesemeister, all of Buffalo; stepson, Dustin Schultz (Katie Lubbers) of Albertville; parents, Vernon and Elaine Briesemeister of Lester Prairie; grandmother Lillian Zuehl of Watertown; and siblings, La Jean (Donald) Hoof of Lester Prairie, Gary Briesemeister of Howard Lake, Marjorie (Jerome) Herrmann of Lester Prairie, Kathy (Brad Arnold) Briesemeister, and Brian Briesemeister of Lester Prairie.
He is further survived by his significant other, Beth Gilstad of Maplewood, and her children, Nick, Josh, and Brian Gilstad, and Jennifer (Richard) Koskie with their children, Christian and Devon Koskie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his stillborn son, Alex; grandfather Gustav Zuehl; and grandparents, Herbert and Verona Briesemeister.
Funeral service was Friday, June 15 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie with the Rev. Eric Nelson officiating. Marsha Christenson played the organ. Private inurnment followed in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Aaron and Cody Briesemeister, Bill and Billy Schultz, Ryan Hoof, Curt Ricard, and Michael Herrmann. Honorary bearers were Gary and Brian Briesemeister, and Dustin Schultz.
Visitation was Thursday, June 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, and continued one hour before the funeral Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Anna and Philip Briesemeister Scholarship Fund at TCF Bank in the Buffalo Cub Food store.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
