Georgia Martha “Jo” Bursch
Georgia Martha “Jo” Bursch, age 93, of Loretto, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
She was born Feb. 22, 1913 in Greenwood Township, Hennepin County, the daughter of Herman and Lydia Bartel Droneck. Georgia was baptized Aug. 31, 1913 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood by the Rev. Haar. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith Aug. 15, 1926 at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford.
Georgia and Edwin Bursch were joined in holy marriage June 12, 1932, in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with two children.
They engaged in dairy farming in Greenfield until 1978.
She was a faithful member of Hanover Zion United Methodist Church and also belonged to Hanover Senior Citizens.
Georgia is survived by grandchildren Jim (Tammy) Bursch of Nisswa, Tom (Diane) Kothrade of Plymouth, Paula Kothrade of Roosevelt, and Nancy Miller of Maple Grove; great-grandchildren Brian Thompson of Bemidji, Blaine Thompson of Warroad, Carrie Jo (Gerald) Hawk of Grand Forks, N.D., Callie Bursch of Nisswa, and Samuel Kothrade of Plymouth; a great-great-grandchild, Alexander Hawk; son-in-law Charles (Leila) Kothrade of Baudette; daughter-in-law Gladys (Dave) Reiser of Albertville; and step grandchildren Ron and Mike Reiser, Roxanne Keorber, and Jennifer Lindstrom.
She is further survived by sisters Verdell (“Harpo”) Lemmage of Eau Claire, Wis., and Myrtle Weidenbach of Osseo; a sister-in-law, Sophie Droneck of Waverly; nieces Judy Cedar and Sherri Heydt; and many other relatives and friends.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin in 1988; a son, Emil in 1962; a daughter, Lois Kothrade in 1978; her parents; a sister, Dorothy Droneck; brothers Clifford, Theodore, Roland, and Herman Droneck; and by a niece, Laurel Becker.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. at Hanover Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jean Sidner officiating. Donna Garczynski was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Beautiful Savior” and “How Great Thou Art.” “Amazing Grace” and “On Eagle’s Wings” were sung by Art Sidner.Interment followed at Greenwood Methodist Cemetery in Burschville.
Visitation was Friday, Dec. 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Casket bearers were Jim and Tammy Bursch, Tom and Diane Kothrade, Paula Kothrade, Blaine Thompson, Brian Thompson, and Nancy Miller.
