Orville “Orv” Wayne Cressy
Orville “Orv” Wayne Cressy, age 93, of Watertown, died Friday, July 27, 2007 at the Elim Nursing Home in Watertown.
Orv lived his life with strong faith, dignity, spirit, and a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by his family and all that knew and loved him.
His first job was working at the Ford Motor Company Plant for 10 years; then, he had his own painting and decorating business for 50 years.
An avid fisherman, hunter, and dedicated Vikings and Twins fan, Orville appreciated Minnesota’s abundant lakes and wildlife. As a child, he loved helping his father and grandfather with the family fishing boat rental business on Whaletail Lake in Minnetrista and Dutch Lake in Mound.
Orv was preceded in death by the love of his life, Gwen (Hagman), married 67 years; parents, Elliea and Warren; brother, Melvin (Bud); sister-in-law, Alvina Cressy; and brothers-in-law Harold Anderson, Irvin Alger and Orville Hagman.
He is survived by his sisters, Velma Anderson of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Elaine Alger of Spring Park; sister-in-law Lavonne Hagman of Onamia; beloved children, Karen Winterfield of Minnetrista, Darryl of Nevis, and Bruce (Jeanne) of Cokato; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial service was Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mound, with visitation for one hour prior to the service. Interment was at the Union Cemetery in Mound.
Arrangements were with Huber Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Mound.
