Keith C. Donahue, age 73, of Hollywood Township, Mayer, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007 at his home with his loving family at his side.
Keith was born June 20, 1937 in Westbrook, Minn., the son of Clarence J. and Edith E. (McFarland) Donahue. He was baptized at the Catholic church in Currie, Minn., and confirmed at the Catholic church in Renville, Minn.
Keith was united in marriage to Betty A. Weiland June 19, 1954 at St. Bonifacius Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius, with Father Wohlfort officiating.
A loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, Keith enjoyed vacationing with his children, farming, driving, reading, studying history, hunting, eating out for breakfast, and telling stories.
He was a 50-year member of the Local 417 Sprinkler Fitters Union, and an active member of AA.
Keith was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Anne and Amy Schmidt; great-grandson Matthew Dietel; father and mother Clarence and Edith Donahue; sister Barbara Donahue; brothers-in-law Bob Norlander and Steve Swensen; father-in-law and mother-in-law Andrew and Vernice Weiland Sr., and brother-in-law Roger Weiland.
He is survived by his loving family; wife Betty; children and spouses Pam and Jim Menzel of Young America, Mike and Brenda Donahue of New Germany, Judy and Mark Warner of New Germany, Jean and Mark Luebke of Mayer, Kathy and Randy Schmidt of New Germany, Bonnie and David Thaemert of Hamburg, Brenda and Brian Kuntz of Delano, John and Michelle Donahue of Mayer, Theresa Buettner of Mound, and Marilyn and Rick Hatcher of Delano; and grandchildren Kevin Menzel and fiancée Heather Johnson, Matt Menzel, Tim Menzel, Dave and Katie Donahue, Joe Donahue, Jeremy Wegener, Brian Luebke, Zach Luebke, Dan Thaemert, Brandon Kuntz, Andrew and Jackie Dietel, Charlie Buettner, Jamie and Luke Runka, Peggy and Mike Wegner, Missy Luebke, Hiedi and Greg Broll, Holli Schmidt and fiancé Josh Boll, Hilary Schmidt, Nichole and Reed Rogne, Betty Jo Thaemert, Lindsey Kuntz, Meagan Donahue, Kelsey Donahue, and Sophie Buettner.
Keith is further survived by great-grandchildren James, Dylan, Paige, Sarah, Liz, Jadon, and Kaylee; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Arlene Donahue of Mound; sisters and brother-in-law Dottie Norlander of Waconia, Janice and Phil Corkery of Minnetonka, Mary Perbix of Mound, and Pat Swensen of Minnetonka; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary and Hans Meyer of Waconia, Kenneth and Judy Weiland of Waconia, Marilyn Weiland of Waconia, Andrew and Susan Weiland Jr. of Cape Cod, Mass., Linda and Roger Sauerbrey of Young America, Gerald and Chris Weiland of Waconia, Debbie and Dale Muhs of Watertown, Susan and Larry Goede of Waconia, and Chuck and Joanne Weiland of Mayer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Oct. 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Frank Wampach as celebrant. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation took place Thursday, Oct. 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, and continued Friday, one hour prior to the Mass.
Casket bearers were Keith’s grandsons: Kevin Menzel, Matt Menzel, Tim Menzel, Dave Donahue, Joe Donahue, Jeremy Wegener, Brian Luebke, Zach Luebke, Dan Thaemert, Brandon Kuntz, Andrew Dietel, and Charlie Buettner. Honorary casket bearers were granddaughters, Jamie Runka, Peggy Wegner, Missy Luebke, Hiedi Broll, Holli Schmidt, Hilary Schmidt, Nichole Rogne, Betty Jo Thaemert, Lindsey Kuntz, Meagan Donahue, Kelsey Donahue, and Sophie Buettner.
Funeral arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
