Glennard E. Fenske
Glennard E. Fenske, age 76, of Watertown, died Monday, June 25, 2007 at his residence.
He was born May 16, 1931 in Young America, the son of Henry H. and Ida A. (Lueck) Fenske. Glennard was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
He graduated from Lester Prairie High School in 1949.
Glennard then honorably served his country in the US Air Force until 1952.
Glennard married Evelyn Artmann April 18, 1953.
He attended Dunwoody Institute and became an industrial grinder for Certified Stainless Steel until 1964.
Glen and Evelyn moved to Delano and farmed until the 1980s, at which time Glennard became a longtime proprietor of Fenske Trucking. He drove school bus for both Watertown and Delano school districts for a combined 30 years.
He was a former Golden Glove boxer, a Minnesota Twins fan, and Minnesota Vikings fan.
Glennard was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown, and belonged to Delano American Legion Post 377.
He is survived by loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn S. Fenske; children: Bonnie (Alan) Czanstkowski of Delano, Phyllis Momanyi of Bloomington, Yvonne (Gary) O’Brien of Montrose, Dean Fenske (friend Victoria) of Howard Lake, Patty (Tim) Speckel, and Sue (Elgin) Yates, all of Buffalo; 18 grandchildren: Amy (Mitch), Jenny (Mike), Mark, David, Nicholas, Alex, Britta, Shawn (Heather), Dan (Gretchen), Andy (Katie), Kevin (Chelsea), Justine, Miranda, Payton, Cassie, Madelynn, Josie and Sterling; and 16 great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Keagan, Kendra and Kalli; Aiden and Deacon; William, Evelyn and Genevieve; Hunter, Codi and Ty; and Carter, Harrison, Kathryn and Michael.
Glennard is further survived by a sister, Marlene (Leonard) Oestreich of New Germany; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jerome (Millie) Artmann and Lou Hausladen, all of Minnetonka, and Ron (Carol Ann) Artmann of Winsted; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ida Fenske; father-in-law and mother-in-law Andy and Mary Artmann; and by nine siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, June 29 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Watertown. Father Frank J. Wampach was the celebrant. Interment with military rites followed at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Watertown.
Friends called at the church Thursday, June 28 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Casket bearers were Glennard’s grandchildren: Shawn O’Brien, Dan O’Brien, Andy O’Brien, Kevin O’Brien, Cassie Yates, and Justine Speckel.
Honorary casket bearers were John Fisher, Steve Markgraf, Ron Goethke, Ron Artmann, Roger Venske, and Linus Groenke.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
