Hildur W. Goldonik
Hildur W. Goldonik, age 94, of Cokato, died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
She was born Oct. 31, 1912 in Cokato to Emil and Hilma (Bjornstedt) Westerberg.
Hildur graduated from Cokato High School. Following graduation, she attended beauty school. She left for Minneapolis in 1932, to begin her work at a beauty shop.
While working in Minneapolis, Hildur met and was married to Al Goldonik in 1937. They made their home in Minneapolis.
Al was employed at Great Northern Railroad, and this job allowed them to do a lot of traveling around the country during their marriage.
When Al passed away in 1958, Hildur continued her love of traveling, visiting such places as the Scandinavian countries, Canada, and Hawaii.
Hildur was employed at John W. Thomas Department Store in Minneapolis, and also at the General Mills Redemption Center, retiring from there in 1975. She made many friends while working at General Mills.
Hildur enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, and sewing quilts for her church.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Jim) Broberg of St. Michael; grandchildren Phil (Heather) Broberg, Paul (Terri) Broberg, Pam (Paul) Martinson, Peggy (Steve) LaBatt, and Patrick (Jen) Broberg; 11 great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Al, Hildur was preceded in death by her parents, Hilma and Emil Westerberg; and brothers, Hilding and Kenneth Westerberg.
Funeral service was Wednesday, July 25, at 11 a.m. at Stockholm Lutheran Church in rural Cokato, with Minister Signe Gray, AiM officiating. Music was provided by Karen Anderson and Toni Thorson. Interment was in Stockholm Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Phil Broberg, Paul Broberg, Patrick Broberg, Bryan Broberg, Paul Martinson, and Steve LaBlatt. Honorary bearer was David Lundstrom.
Arrangements were by the Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
