Daniel D. Graham, age 89, of Waverly, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born Sept. 24, 1918 in Winsted, the son of William J. and Elizabeth Westrup Graham.
Dan served his country during World War II as a US Naval Officer in Kodiak, Alaska and Guadalcanal.
He was joined in holy marriage with Ardis M. Anderson Feb. 23, 1946, at the Fort Snelling Chapel. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Dan served his community as Waverly’s banker from 1951 until his retirement in 1986. He deeply cared for the community and the people he served.
He was a lifelong resident of Waverly, and faithful member of St. Mary’s Church.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Ardis; children Dana (Jim) Belisle of Albany, Ore., Catherine “Birdie” (Kim) Jackson of Waverly, and Daniel (Maureen) Graham II of Waverly; grandchildren Carrie Belisle Cole, Sarah Jackson Ashbach, Michael Jackson, Jason Graham, Jacquelyn Graham, Andrew Graham, and Daniel Graham III; great-grandchildren Reagan and Logan; sister Mary Quinn of Omaha, Neb.; and other relatives and friends.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. Father Timothy Cloutier was the principal concelebrant. Interment with military rites followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, with a prayer Service at 7 p.m.
Casket bearers were Dr. Kevin Graham, David Gutzke, Thomas Graham, David Graham, John Quinn, and James Franske.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
