Luella E. Granzow Obituary – 12/09/07


Luella E. Granzow, age 96, of Watertown, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 at the Ridgeview Medical Center of Waconia.

She was born July 31, 1911, in Mayer, the daughter of Herman L. and Magdalena (Hill) Zummach. Luella was baptized Aug. 13, 1911, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. F. W. Erthal; and confirmed May 16, 1926, at the same church by the Rev. F. W. Erthal.

Luella was united in marriage to Alroy William Granzow Aug. 27, 1930, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. F. W. Erthal.

Luella worked at the Watertown Medical Clinic for 39 and one-half years doing x-rays and cardiograms.

A loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma, Luella enjoyed embroidery, cooking, and trying new recipes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alroy; sons-in-law Fred Cords and Lloyd Paulson; parents Herman and Magdalena Zummach; brother Waldemar “Pete” Zummach; sister Margaret Zellmann; father-in-law and mother-in-law Herman and Mary Granzow; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gilbert and Violet Granzow, Helen and Horace Danielson, Walter Luedtke, Erwin Schumacher, Herman Zellmann, and Otto Kuntz; and nephews Donald Luedtke, Joel Schumacher, John Danielson, and Wayne Granzow.

Luella is survived by her loving family: children and spouses Betty Lou Cords of Mankato, Kenneth and Peggy Granzow of Sheboygan, Wis., Shirley and Orin Larson of Bloomington, and Susan Granzow of Sheboygan, Wis.; grandchildren Cindy and Barry, Shelley and Doug, Jack and Mareena, and Eric; great-grandchildren Brent and Miranda, Brandon, Blaine, and Michael; and great-great-grandchildren Hailie and Alexis.

She is further survived by sisters Flora Luedtke of Mayer, Glenna Schumacher of Watertown, and Martha Kuntz of New Germany; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was Thursday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Paul Krentz officiating. Visitation preceded the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Mayer.

Casket bearers were Barry Jacques, Doug Swanson, Blaine Jacques, Ronald Zellmann, Willard Baumann, Rodney Kuntz, Charles Huepenbecker, Larry Stender, and Emmett Danielson.

Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
