Gloria E. Herrmann

Gloria E. Herrmann, age 80, of Cologne, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at her home in Benton Township, Cologne.

She was born Jan. 6, 1927, in Waconia, the daughter of Theodore C. and Alma F. (Sauter) Hasse. Gloria was baptized and confirmed at the Waconia Moravian Church.

She was raised on a farm on Lake Waconia, where she tended the boats with her siblings.

Gloria was united in marriage to DeLloyd G. Herrmann Feb. 10, 1945, at the Waconia Moravian Church with the Rev. Milo Loppnow officiating.

A loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma, Gloria helped her husband run their trucking business while raising eight children. Her interests included gardening, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and sewing projects, and she made prayer shawls for Ridgeview Medical Center Hospice.She was also the family historian.

Gloria and DeLloyd moved to the farm in 1973, where they worked together and continued the trucking business and spent a lot of time at the feed store. Gloria spent many hours tending to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and hosted the family Christmas Eve get-together for over 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, DeLloyd; parents Theodore and Alma Hasse; sisters, brothers, and their spouses, Erma and Henry Proehl, Eleanora Anderson, Verna and August Speigner, Glenn and Minnie Hasse, Gladyn “Huns” Hasse, and Floria and Eugene Templin; and sister-in-law Verna Hasse.

Gloria is survived by her loving children and spouses, Joyce and John Miller of Golden Valley, Carolyn and Richard Miske of Rockford, Thomas and Diane Herrmann, Gary and Barbara Herrmann, all of Cologne, Bonnie and Richard Schaefer of Victoria, Randy and Dona Herrmann of Norwood, Cindy and Wayne Hillstrom of Belle Plaine, and Daniel Herrmann of Cologne; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by a brother, Cklair Hasse of Mound; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Kathleen and Orlin Schneewind of Young America, and Marjorie and Gary Hemmann of Glencoe; nieces, nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Funeral service was Friday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. at the Waconia Moravian Church with the Rev. John Wallace officiating. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Waconia.

Casket bearers were Gloria’s grandsons, Ryan Miske, Bryan Herrmann, David Herrmann, Matthew Schaefer, Christopher Schaefer, Joey Herrmann, Michael Herrmann, and Jeffrey Hillstrom.

Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
