Evelyn Matilda Caroline Hoover, age 87, of Howard Lake, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at Waconia Ridgeview Hospital.
She was born Nov. 29, 1920, to Albert and Esther Shepperd in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Evelyn was confirmed at the Howard Lake Presbyterian Church, and graduated from Howard Lake High School.
She was united in marriage to Floyd William Hoover Sept. 28, 1940. Evelyn and Floyd made their home on the farm in Victor Township, south of Howard Lake.
Evelyn enjoyed gardening, cooking, helping out on the farm, and socializing over a good cup of coffee and “something to go with a cup of coffee.” She loved her cats, dogs, crocheting, quilting, sewing, and going out to eat with father.
Evelyn entered the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Care Center in February 2006, where she was blessed with the care and company of good friends.
She is survived by her children, Glee (Gene) Main, Donna (Allan) Munson, David (Maureen) Hoover, all of Howard Lake, and Joan (Daniel) Olson of Reeds Spring, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Douglas (Fran) Shepperd; and other friends and relatives.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hoover; parents, Albert and Esther Shepperd; and a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Hoover.
Funeral service was Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake with the Revs. Myra Carroll-Pezzella and Daniel Olson officiating. Music was provided by Patricia Munson, the Munson Family Singers, Joy, Melissa and Sarah Olson, Jessica Gibson, and Emily Kim. Interment was in the Howard Lake City Cemetery.
Visitation took place Monday, Dec. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake, and continued Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Casket bearers were Evelyn’s grandchildren.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home.
