Virgil Clifford Horsch
Virgil Clifford Horsch, age 66, of Howard Lake, died Sunday, March 4, 2007 at his home.
He was born Sept. 1, 1940 in Howard Lake, the son of Arthur and Elsie (Schmieg) Horsch. A lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, he was baptized Sept. 22, 1940 by the Rev. E. N. Seltz, and confirmed in his faith April 3, 1955 by the Rev. Theodore Melinat.
Over the years, Virgil was employed by Gilmer Monument Works in Howard Lake, a company in Delano, and at Tonka Toys.
His hobbies included assembling and collecting model cars.
Virgil is survived by his brother, Orville and Carol Horsch of Waverly; sister-in-law LaVerna Horsch of Howard Lake; nieces and nephews Deborah Horsch, Paul and Chersti Horsch, all of Waverly, Kathy and Roger Schirro of Buffalo Lake, Randy Horsch of Shakopee, Roxanne Salden and special friend Wayne Schmitz of St. Bonifacius, Cindy and Rick Olson of Sandstone, Karen Horsch, and Christopher and Stacy Horsch, all of Howard Lake; many great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elsie Horsch; a brother, Jerome Horsch; and two nephews James Salden and Alan Horsch.
Funeral service was Thursday, March 8 at 2 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake with the Revs. Michael Nirva and Martin Schoenfeld officiating. Nancy Butterfass was the organist. Interment will be in the spring at St. James Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation took place Wednesday, March 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and continued Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers were Wayne Schmieg, Merlyn Schmieg, Dale Schmieg, Harlan Schmieg, Burton Horsch, and Donald Horsch.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake.
