Kenneth C. Hunerberg Obituary – 12/22/07

Kenneth C. Hunerberg, age 83, of Watertown, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at his home.

Ken was born June 9, 1924, in Gibbon. He had an ecumenical view of religion in that he was baptized in the Moravian faith, confirmed in the Methodist faith, and married Grace at St. Michael’s Catholic Church parish house in Gaylord Sept. 2, 1950.

The couple lived in Jordan until 1954, when they moved to Watertown.

Kenny was dedicated not only to his family, but also to serving the Watertown community. He managed the former American States Insurance Agency at the current Bremer Bank until retiring in 1989.

After retirement, Kenny worked with Dave Heldt at Hendricks Insurance Agency. He was a past member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, and served on the planning commission.

Kenny was very proud of his service in the US Army during World War II. He joined the American Legion upon his discharge from the service and then joined the Eugene Earley Post 121 upon moving to Watertown. He served as commander, and was the current treasurer and firing squad coordinator. He was also a member of the charitable gambling committee.

Kenny’s life can be summed up in four simple words: he cared about people.

Hunerberg; brothers Waldon and Donald Hunerberg; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alden and Martha Buche; sisters-in-law Leola Siewert and Bernadine Gustafson; and brothers-in-law Charles Bauermeister, Bernard Corcoran, and Gerald Siewert.
