Dennis Mathais Hurley
Dennis Mathais Hurley, age 87, of Darwin, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at the Dassel Lakeside Home in Dassel.
He was born Jan. 24, 1920 in Ellsworth Township, the son of Dennis M. and Emily E. (Nelson) Hurley.
Dennis was a lifelong farmer, living on the family homestead on CSAH 9, Darwin.
He entered the armed forces, serving in Europe during World War II.
Dennis was a lifelong member of the Church of St. John in Darwin, and a life member of the Admiral Benson VFW Post 2818.
He is survived by his niece, Virles (and David) Grimsgard; nephew Lawrence (and Barbara) Hurley; two grandnieces; and four grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Emily; three brothers, M. Lawrence, Cyrus, and Ralph; and two sisters, Myrtle Hurley and Catherine Ptacek.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. John in Darwin, with Father Patrick Casey as celebrant. Interment was in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Darwin, with military honors provided by Admiral Benson VFW Post 2818, Litchfield.
Visitation took place Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m.
Arrangements were by the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.
