Emma Alina Juusola obituary, 1/8/07


Emma Alina (Hasti) Juusola, age 97, of Cokato, formerly of Kingston, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at the Cokato Manor.
She ws born Sept. 19, 1909 in Winton, Minn., the daughter of William and Hilma (Illikainen) Hasti. As a young child, her family moved to the Kingston area, where Emma attended District 1 for her education.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was presently a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church, rural Dassel.
Emma was united in marriage to Arnold Alfred Juusola Dec. 19, 1941, at her parent’s home in Kingston. Together, Emma and Arnold made their home on a farm just south of Kingston.
Emma loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook, and everyone who visited her house left with a full stomach. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, growing peonies and African violets, and was a member of a birthday club who had gotten together for over 50 years. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Emma is survived by her children; Sally Haag of St. Cloud, John (Pat) Juusola of Litchfield, Bill (Detta) Juusola of Maple Plain, Mary (Steve) Davison of Dassel, Karen (Elwood) Manninen of Annandale, Jane (Phillip) Johnson of Cokato, and Martha (Jerry) Fitzloff of Kingston; 47 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a sister, Esther Anderson of Detroit Lakes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; son-in-law Norman Haag; two grandchildren, Bradley Juusola and Nathan Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Haag; two brothers, Carl and Einard; and three sisters, Helen Hilluka, Ellen Suomala, and Mae Kurtti.
The funeral service was Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 11 a.m. at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church, rural Dassel. Interment was at the Finnish Apostolic Cemetery.
Visitation took place Tuesday evening, Jan. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel; and continued Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
