Darrell Roger Kegler
Darrell Roger Kegler, age 73, of Motley, and formerly of Winsted, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Acoma Township, McLeod County.
He was born April 6, 1934 in Winsted, the son of Edward and Emily Dolezal Kegler. Darrell was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic grade school, and graduated from Lester Prairie High School.
Darrell honorably served his country in the US Army from 1955 to 1957.
He was united in marriage to Bambi Buss Sept. 13, 1958, and they were blessed with three children.
Darrell was a bricklayer by trade. In 1959, he began his career with 3M Company in Hutchinson until his retirement in 1991.
Darrell was married to Nancy Thiesen in Brainerd Jan. 13, 1991. He and Nancy settled in Motley and enjoyed breeding, raising, and showing Papillion dogs.
He had a great time with his sons, brothers, and friends hunting and fishing. Christmas was a special time for Darrell, spending it with his family and bringing the traditional Christmas tree that he grew on his land.
In his retirement years, Darrell belonged to American Legion Post 124.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; children, Kurt Kegler of Mankato, Dean Kegler of Hutchinson, and Holly Mills and husband Terry of Hutchinson; granddaughters Madison and Casey Mills; stepchildren George Theisen and wife Kris, Paul Theisen, John Theisen and wife Nora, Peter Theisen and wife Jennie, and Francine Anthony and husband Brian; nine step-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil Kegler and wife Mavis of Lester Prairie; a sister, Mary Ellen Loew and husband Bob of Litchfield; and many other relatives and friends.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emily Kegler; and a brother, Francis Kegler.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, July 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father William A. Sprigler was the celebrant, and interment with military rites followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Winsted.
Visitation was Monday, July 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
Casket bearers were Roger Kegler, Mike Kegler, Brad Kegler, Lee Loew, Fran Roufs, and Michael Liepke.
Arrangements were by Chilson Funeral Home of Winsted.
