Mary “Marie” Magdalen Kieser
Mary “Marie” Magdalen Kieser, age 93, of Winsted, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born July 19, 1914 in Winsted Township, McLeod County, the daughter of Frank H. and Mary Millerbernd Schermann.
Marie graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Winsted in 1932.
She was joined in holy marriage to John V. Kieser Nov. 9, 1948 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
During her lifetime, Marie was employed at Fred Lhotka Photography, at Keating Hardware for 11 and one-half years, and as a postal clerk at the Winsted Post Office for 25 years.
She lived her entire life in the Winsted area, and was a faithful, lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Marie also belonged to the St. Anne’s Society and the VFW Post 9232 Auxiliary.
She is survived by a sister, Veronica Bergermann of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Canada; nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, John V. “Jack” Kieser in 1958; her parents, Frank H. and Mary Schermann; and by eight brothers and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. William A. Sprigler as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Winsted.
Friends called Monday, Aug. 13 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Care Center, and from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A parish prayer service took place at 4 p.m., an American Legion Auxiliary ritual at 6:30 p.m., and a St. Anne’s Rosary was recited at 7 p.m.
Honorary casket bearers were Marie’s godchildren: Raymond Schermann, Alyssa Krause, and Terre Krause.
Casket bearers were Marty Schermann, Dennis Kappel, Daniel Kappel, Felix Stifter, Bill Krause, and Norbert Schermann.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
