Kenneth J. “Kenny” Klaers, age 58, of Waconia, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Independence.
He was born June 23, 1949, in Watertown, the son of James P. and Geraldine L. (Hutter) Klaers.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Susan B. Hafermann Nov. 4, 1972, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fish Lake by the Rev. Karl Stroming.
Kenny was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping, every chance he got. He also loved having his grandchildren around, and enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, spending time on the home farm, and listening to classic country music.
He was a member of VFW Post 5462 and Knights of Columbus.
Kenneth is survived by his loving family: wife Susan; daughter and son-in-law Kristina and Andrew Strub of River Falls, Wis.; son Terry Klaers and special friend Sarah Meier of Waconia; grandchildren Benjamin and Erin Strub; mother and father Geraldine and James Klaers of Maple Plain; sister and brothers-in-law Marge and Gene Barfknecht of Delano, and Charles Moore of Colorado; mother-in-law Bernice Hafermann of Shakopee; sister-in-law Shirley Hafermann of Shakopee; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Moore; father-in-law Jerome Hafermann; and brother-in-law Joel Hafermann.
Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia with Father Lawrence Blake as celebrant. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Mike Barfknecht, Steve Barfknecht, Randy Klaers, Terry Rettig, Fred Markquart, and Jim Johnson.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
