Violet Marcella Kuntz
Violet Marcella Kuntz, age 89, of Buffalo, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Lake Ridge Health Care Center.
She was born Feb. 24, 1918 to Carl and Stella (Bennett) Almquist in Lester Prairie. Violet was baptized May 25, 1918 by Methodist Pastor William McNee, and confirmed in the Evangelical Church.
Violet was a Lester Prairie High School graduate.
She married Elmer Kuntz Sept. 9, 1939 at the Evangelical Church parsonage with Pastor Seibel officiating. In 1942, they moved to Hillman, and from there, to Crosby and Aitkin.
While in Crosby and Aitkin, Violet was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
She enjoyed doing needlework and eating out with her husband. She and Elmer belonged to the Watertown Seniors for 20 years, where they enjoyed playing cards.
A longtime nurses’ aide, Violet worked in private home care, and at Bethany Covenant in Minneapolis. She retired in 1980.
Violet is survived by her husband, Elmer of Lake Ridge in Buffalo; son Owen “Butch” (Carol); and daughter Gail (Robert) Gallego, all of Green Valley, Ariz.; brothers Gerald (Marion) Almquist of New Hope, and Jesse Almquist of Glencoe; grandchildren Scott, Kristine, Bryan, and Jeff; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents; and a brother, Gordon Almquist.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 20 at 11 a.m. at Buffalo United Methodist Church., with visitation one hour before the service, and interment in the Lester Prairie City Cemetery.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
