Bernard “Ben” Lachermeier, age 84, of Winsted, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 at the Glencoe Regional Health Services.
He was born April 5, 1923 in Winsted Township, the son of George and Mary Remer Lachermeier.
Bernard F. Lachermeier and Marcel “Sally” Lynch were joined in holy marriage Oct. 16, 1945, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. God blessed their marriage with three sons.
Ben and Sally engaged in dairy farming for many years, and Ben was a lifetime farmer. He also was a lifetime, faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 8253.
Ben was a teaser, a great story teller, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sally; sons Bill (Nancy) Lachermeier of Winsted, Bob (Joy) Lachermeier of Independence, and John (Brenda) Lachermeier of Mayer; eight grandchildren: David Lachermeier and special friend Nancie, Philip (Jennifer) Lachermeier, Angela Lachermeier, Amy Lachermeier and special friend Dan; Tom (Jenny) Lachermeier, Matt (Alicia) Lachermeier; Jeff Lachermeier, Kelli Lachermeier; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Benjamin.
Ben is further survived by a brother, George “Butch” (Elmerine) Lachermeier; three sisters-in-law: Florentine Lachermeier, Alice Lachermeier, and Daisy Lachermeier; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters: Joe, Leo, Tony, Paul, Magdalen, Annie, Al, and Leonard.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, Dec. 1 at noon at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father William A. Sprigler was the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Ben’s eight grandchildren were casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
