Russell Charles Maas, age 67, of Delano, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007 at the Golden Living Heath Care Center in Delano.
Russell was born Feb. 15, 1940 in Watertown, the son of Charles and Annie (Schultz) Maas. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano.
Russell often worked construction jobs with his brother, Lloyd. They worked for Lund-Martin Construction, Winkelman Building, and Krause Anderson Construction.
He enjoyed fishing, having more than one fish mounted; hunting, and gardening. “Fred,” his black Labrador, was a constant companion.
In his younger years, Russell played baseball on the Montrose league.
He is survived by daughters Vicki Maas of Buffalo, Chersti (Paul) Horsch of Waverly, and Stacy Maas of Howard Lake; son Craig (Sara) Maas of Howard Lake; sisters Valerie Wright of Delano, Lucille Styrbicky of Rockford, Delores Poliwoda, and Joyce Otto, both of Delano, and Donna Leick, and Janice Van Lith, both of Buffalo; a brother, Leon “Lee” Maas of Delano; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lloyd Maas.
A memorial Mass took place Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, with visitation for one hour before the Mass. Inurnment was at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Delano.
The Peterson Chapel-Buffalo served the family.
