Robert Dayton Mattson
Robert Dayton Mattson, age 80, of Sparks, Nev., formerly of Meeker County, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007.
He was born Feb. 15, 1927 to John and Olivette Danielson, and baptized at Lake Jennie Methodist Church. He was confirmed at Lamson Church in 1939.
When Robert’s mother and father divorced, Bob took the Mattson name.
He married Lorraine Dorma in 1945. After that marriage ended, Bob married Margaret Pepus in 1950.
He married Bertha Ballinger in 1955, and they shared 51 years of marriage.
Bob grew up in the Lamson community, where he attended Lamson Country School. He graduated from Dassel High School in 1944.
He moved to California for a short time in 1964, and then moved to Nevada, where he resided the rest of his life.
Bob had numerous jobs until he started to develop properties and owned a trailer park. He was busy buying, selling, and developing properties until his death.
His other great passion was for raising wolves, which he enjoyed for almost 20 years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lyle Mattson; a sister Faye Linder; and a son, Alan Mattson.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha; three sons, Dennis (Carol) of St. Cloud, Dan (Lisa) of Dassel, and Dale of Nevada; and five grandchildren: Christopher, Noelle, Jennajo, Rebekah, and Jessica Mattson.
Funeral services were Friday, May 4 at Walton’s Funeral Home in Sparks, Nev.
