Jeanette Patricia “Jean” Meuleners, age 82, of Hollywood Township, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born Sept. 9, 1925 to Martin and Margaret (Cebulla) Farniok in Franklin Township.
Jean and Leander Meuleners were united in marriage Feb. 20, 1950 at the St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in rural Delano.
A lifelong farm wife, Jean loved the farm, her husband, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, making dishes that her family always looked forward to.
Gardening was a passion, growing flowers and vegetables, and these vegetables often became canning projects. Jean enjoyed dancing to old time music, watching “Wheel of Fortune,” and doing word finds and puzzle books. She could always find time to attend an event that a family member was involved in.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Leander; parents, Martin and Margaret (Cebulla) Farniok; parents-in-law Lawrence and Mary Meuleners; siblings John Farniok, Clem Farniok, and Donald Farniok; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Elaine Farniok and Beth Farniok, Simon and Irene Meuleners, Priscilla and Art Gabrelcik, Cyril and Dorothy Meuleners, Norbert Meuleners, Aurelia “Bitsy” Barfknecht, Ralph Wartman, and Ron Remer.
She is survived by her children, sons Jeff and Mary Meuleners, and Jim and Joan Meuleners; daughters Sandy and Rich Sauerbrey, Cynthia and Mark Mathews, and Kathleen and Todd Drees; 14 grandchildren: Lori Smith and fiancé Mike Tarver, Michael and Karen O’Connell, Patrick O’Connell, Christopher and Lisa O’Connell, Melanie and Chad Menth, David and Jamie Meuleners, John Meuleners and friend Stacy, Andy and Tiffany Meuleners, Mike and Erin Meuleners, and Christine, Rachel, Theodore, Travis, and Nicole Drees; and 15 great-grandchildren: Briana, Hayley, Carter, Georgette, Michael Jr., Lauren, Makenna, Jacob, Mitchell, Benjamin, Alexis, Elizabeth, Brooklyn, Jade and Nicholas.
Jean is further survived by siblings and spouses, Valeria Topel, Bob and Jean Farniok, Jim and Phyllis Farniok, Margaret and Marlow Abdnor, Wally Farniok, and Rich Farniok; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elvera and Harold Gustafson, Carmen Farniok, Elaine Farniok, Rosemary Wartman, Marcy and Leon Wickenhauser, Irene Meuleners, and Gene and Marge Barfknecht.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Oct. 22 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with the Rev. Frank Wampach officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were John Meuleners, Mike Meuleners, Andy Meuleners, Christopher O’Connell, Theodore Drees, Travis Drees, Chad Menth, and David Meuleners. Honorary bearers were Christine Drees, Rachel Drees, Nicole Drees, Melanie Menth, Lori Smith, Patrick O’Connell, and Michael O’Connell.
Arrangements were by the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
