Gertrude Mary Mohler
Gertrude Mary (Burke) Mohler, age 89, of Dassel, died Monday, April 9, 2007 at the Dassel Lakeside Nursing Home.
She was born July 5, 1917 in Staples, Minn. to Louis and Flossie (King) Burke. Gertrude grew up in Staples and graduated from Staples High School.
Following graduation, Gertrude married Raymond Jay Mohler Aug. 16, 1938. They made their home in rural Staples until 1963. This marriage was blessed with six children; John, Janice, Eileen, Tom, Wallace, and Larry.
Gertrude and Raymond later retired on Big Swan Lake, where she enjoyed fishing and watching sports on television. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, and later in life, volunteering at the Lakeside Nursing Home in Dassel.
Gertrude is survived by her children: John (Karen) Mohler of St. Louis Park, Janice (Rich) Shequen of Lake City, Eileen (Paul) Quade of Blaine, Tom Mohler of Big Lake, Wallace (Jan) Mohler of North Branch, and Larry (Dawn) Mohler of Montrose; a sister, Clara Lilly; brothers Maurice Burke, Eugene Burke, and William Burke; 20 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and two great, great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond; brothers Duane, Gerald, Ed, and Adlord; and two infant brothers.
Gathering of family and friends took place Friday, April 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake.
