Luella Gertrude Nass obituary, 3/7/07


Luella Gertrude (Klimstra) Nass, age 88, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at the Birchwood Hospice House in Hutchinson.
She was born Nov. 9, 1918, in Litchfield, the daughter of Dewey and Dora (Brynteson) Klimstra. Luella was baptized as an infant April 20, 1919 by the Rev. J. F. McLeod at the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She grew up and received her education in the Dassel area.
Luella was united in marriage to Raymond L. Nass May 9, 1947 at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel. This marriage was blessed with five children, Keith, Larry, David, Paul, and Marian.
Luella and Raymond shared 47 years of marriage, until Raymond passed away Jan. 30, 1994.
Luella was a loving homemaker and mother. Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a telephone operator at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Dassel.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, where she was a member of the Dorcas Club. She was also a member of the Hutchinson American Legion Post 96 Auxiliary.
Luella enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, reading, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Luella was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Dora Klimstra; son Larry Nass; son Keith, in infancy; brothers-in-law Virgil Nass and Willard Isaacson; and sister-in-law Bessie Harloff and her husband, Harry.
She is survived by her children, David Nass and his wife, Susan, of St. Cloud, Paul Nass and his wife, Sharon, of Salem, Ore., and Marian Gritche and her husband, Raymond, of Lakeville; grandchildren, Michael Nass, Michelle Nass, and Eric Nass; twin sisters, Evelyn Isaacson and her husband, Linton, and Emelyn Isaacson, all of Dassel; nieces; nephews; cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was Saturday, March 10 at 2 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with the Rev. Gerhard Bode officiating. Organist was Paul Otte, who also sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Congregational hymns were “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” “Lord, Take My Hand And Lead Me,” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Casket bearers were David Nass, Susan Nass, Michael Nass, Marian Gritche, Raymond Gritche, Paul Nass, and Sharon Nass. Honorary bearers were Michelle Nass and Eric Nass.
Arrangements were by the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson.
