Everett R. Oakley, age 90, of Norwood Young America, died Tuesday Oct. 23, 2007, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
He was born May 28, 1917, in Midland, Texas, the son of Henry and Ethel (Howard) Oakley.
Everett enjoyed watching football and NASCAR on TV. An excellent marksman, he enjoyed going skeet shooting in his earlier days.
Everett served as an elder at the Assembly of God Church in Shakopee.
He is survived by his loving family, daughter and son-in-law Ethel and Roger Roepke of Howard Lake; sons and daughters-in-law Charles and Amy Oakley of Glencoe, Donald and Beth Oakley of Michigan, and Lucy Oakley of California; grandchildren Melissa and Aaron Bandhf, Jane and John Brown, Ann and Sean Stai, Amy Roepke, Danielle Oakley, Chris Oakley, Eric Oakley, John Oakley, Brian Oakley, and Dee Roepke; and great-grandchildren Arianna, Kaden, Jacob, Alexis, Kayla, Jacob, Zachary, Ty, Payton, Ann, and Zachary.
Everett is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Donna and Fred Cusack of Edina, Lorraine Rudnick of Chicago, and Muriel and Bunn Solberg of Minneapolis; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma; parents Henry and Ethel Oakley; grandson Todd Roepke; sister Ethel Oakley; and brother Jesse Oakley.
Funeral service took place Friday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia with Jason Okrzynski officiating. Interment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Michael Swiger, Sarah Swiger, Chris Oakley, Eric Oakley, John Oakley, Cassandra Hills, and Steven Greisinger.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
