Ilma M. Ohrt
Ilma M. Ohrt, age 89, of Montrose, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at her daughter Ardy’s home in Montrose.
She was born Aug. 14, 1917 to James Allen and Beulah (Hebble) Potter in Waterloo.
Ilma was united in marriage to Vernon Ohrt Oct. 16, 1949 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Waterloo, Iowa.
Ilma was active in Square Dance Club, St. Paul’s Methodist Women’s Club, sewing club from Powers, and was a 42-year employee of Powers Manufacturing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Beulah Potter; brother Maynard; and sister-in-law Ruth Potter.
Ilma is survived by her husband of 57 years, Vernon; son Duane and Pam Ohrt of Oelwein, Iowa; daughter Ardy Ohrt of Montrose; five granddaughters: Jennifer and Dr. Michael Anderson of Huntsville, Ala., Jessica and Pat Swaab of Maxwell, Iowa, Jonnika Ohrt of Greeley, Colo., and Jolissa Ohrt and Jorianne Ohrt of Oelwein, Iowa; four great-grandchildren: Carter, Eisley, and Caden Anderson, and Addison Swaab; her adopted family in Minnesota: Dr. Curtis Whistler, Dr. Scott Jensen, and the staff at Catalyst Clinic; Dr. Kevin White, Clem and Jean Matter and family of Delano, Herb and Theresa Ludwig of Montrose, Julie, Joe and Cory Ludwig, Brian and Pam (Henry) Neaton, Irene Woitalla, John Woitalla, Jim and Fudge Woitalla, Char Driver and family, and Harry “Dog” McDonough, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 8 at noon at the St. Paul Methodist Church in Waterloo, Iowa, with visitation in the church from 10 a.m. to noon. Interment was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.
A visitation took place Tuesday evening, Feb. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, and the Locke Funeral Home of Waterloo, Iowa.
